"You are Nothing"

Bonjour! We had so many things happen this week! So buckle in!

Wednesday we had a lesson today with our Zone Leaders, it was with this lady named Mary who speaks French and which is why I was invited with my companion, to translate. The Spirit was very strong and she is so awesome! We then had our lesson with Romal whom we met last week and we read 1 Nephi with him and explained what was happening.

We had District council Thursday! And we celebrated Christmas in July today at our district lunch. We made Christmas cookies and cupcakes for our District potluck and decorated with Christmas stuff haha you gotta do what you gotta do when you're the only Sisters in the District lol.
Christmas in July!!
Some Elders came in and were wearing winter coats so they went all out! We also had a lesson with the Tagalog Elders and Alemar arrived late with some Filipino food.
Interesting Filipino food... it's called Siomai
Friday we met with April. Dallin, Connor and Mitch were all present and we all shared our favourite Book of Mormon story and how we have related these stories to our lives and we told April that as she continues to read she will be able to maybe relate these stories to her life and understand them better.

We went to the park Saturday afternoon and we drew out the Plan of Salvation with chalk on the sidewalk and it was really cool people were stopping to look at our picture!
Our Plan of Salvation drawing
Afterwards we went to one of the Elders' baptism and our person that we are teaching didn't show up because he thought it was on Sunday...but we ended up staying because the Elders asked me to lead the music and one of my companions said the closing prayer. It was an amazing experience seeing a mother and daughter enter into this covenant with the Lord. So happy for them and their journey to come! We then went to this block party BBQ hosted by another church and got free food, though one of ladies said "you are nothing" directly to me, or so it felt... I mean she isn't wrong, it was the way she said it. It was very degrading.

I'd like to talk about that for a minute though. I know that without Jesus Christ we are nothing, or that we can't reach our full potential. We cannot find the most peace, the most joy, the most fulfilment in life without Jesus Christ. I know that I am so much more with Christ in my life.

So we were at the BBQ with the Travelling Sisters, Sister Spinney and Sister Rivera, and afterwards we split off on exchanges. Sister Mitchell and I were with Sister Spinney Saturday evening, and had some great conversations with several people (Tyler, Jarusalem, Andy, Eddie, and more), setting up return visits!

Exchange with Sister Spinney
Sunday Sister Rivera and I were together so after our many church meetings, we had dinner with one of our members, then went out tracting. We met again many nice people, and set up a return visit with Cody, who lived at the last house we knocked at!

Monday I was with Sister Rivera and Sister Hathaway.

Sisters Rivera, Zumbach, and Hathaway
We had a lesson with someone they had met Saturday night and he accepted a baptism invitation!! So exciting! We also had exchange review before going to dinner at the Hadfield's, finishing our evening by contacting a few people and tracting.

I love that I have the opportunity to share God's love with all those I come in contact with!

Lots of love!

Greenie Fire × 2

Bonjour!

WHAT A WEEK!

First off it was Transfers last Wednesday! And.....

Sister Mitchell and I stayed together and added a new Sister to our mix! And we mean brand new from the MTC! And fun fact we are both from Ontario, and happened to know of each other when we lived there....
With our new Sister!
So now we have Sister Mitchell, Sister Hathaway and Sister Me haha running around! Crazy! Fun!

LRT contacting
Another fun fact from this week, we found ourselves in a tornado storm! Well it was simply a warning but let me tell ya, there was dust, pebbles, rocks, dirt and whatever else flying at us as we are desperately trying to make it to the LRT station in one piece!
Walking through the Tornado weather warning without knowing it at the time
Walking by a little lake, doing some contacting
We had several lessons this week which was awesome. Some really powerful ones too! One of them was in fact really cool! Soooo we met this awesome family Saturday night, we met the husband named Emanuel and his son named Emanuel as well. Sister Mitchell has pointed out this family several times as we drove home from the church and have been wanting to stop by this family for a really long time...so after a first attempt to remember the right street a couple of weeks ago, we got the right street Saturday and we went by their house. As we were introducing who we are and what we do he invited us in. We sat down and started to talk about the Plan of Salvation and drew it out for him and his 5 year old son. He had questions about heaven and hell, he was very thrilled to hear that we have three degrees of Glory and that he would have another chance to accept this gospel, but was saying how he wants to keep meeting with us and live the word of God and wants to eventually be baptized!!! He also was going to ask for a Book of Mormon however we had just pulled one out and said we wanted to give him one! Haha We have invited him and his family to come to the baptism on the 28th, and said he wouldn't miss it! We are so happy and excited!

I know that faith is what helps us find those who are seeking for knowledge even if they don't know it. I'm so grateful to be with these new missionaries who still have their Greenie fire! Continue to look for the one! And expect Miracles!!!

Lots of love!

Bonjour!!

It has been another busy week! Lots of fun things happened!

Wednesday we had several lessons! Which was awesome! We went to Buddy's house again. We also had dinner with the family of one of the Young Adults in our Ward, and it turns out that his mom is one of my mom's childhood friends!!! We also went on Splits with the members as we had two lessons at the same time! So Sister Mitchell met with Degoli while I went to Marlene's with Tasha!
Our member splits–Tasha
It was a little stressful but we managed it!

Thursday had the last District meeting of the transfer! We took a fun picture to celebrate.

Saturday was Bastille Day! It was fun to once again be dressed in Blue, White and Red! As we were doing some contacting we met Mike and I pointed out how well his outfit was festive, In the representation of France for Bastille day! He said he was supporting France in the World Cup and so we got talking and hopefully be meeting again this week!

Sunday! Thomas came to church again! Yay! France also won the world cup!! ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!!!!!! We later did some contacting and found a botanical garden so we walked around and talked to some people while reading all the funny names of the plants!

At a botanical garden
Monday was great too! We went to campus singing,
Campus singing
and then we had some time to find before dinner which was awesome because we went tracting and had some really great conversations with others!

I know that as I love those I serve more, I gain a greater desire to invite all to have what I have!  Which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ! The knowledge of the Restoration, of modern-day prophets and more scriptures! It is truly fantastic!

I hope you all have a great week!

Lot of love!

Busy Bee

Bonjour!

What a week! It has been a mix of sun, rain, and clouds. Despite the fluctuating weather, we had many cool miracles!!

So Wednesday we didn't have any appointments so we were out doing what Sisters do best, finding! Particularly knocking doors. We had some cool miracles happen as we were doing this. We met this young family who have moved from the Middle East, whom we invited to the Free English class. And they were so excited to come, and enjoyed it!

We also met a young boy and his grandmother from Haiti, and they wanted us to come back to share with the rest of their family! They speak French and Creole! So we are excited to meet with them all!

Thursday we met with Jasim!  He is awesome! He is also from the middle East. We read the Book of Mormon with him. We invited him to be baptised and he said yes and asked what he needed to do to prepare! We are so excited for him! He has exams this week so we are praying they all go well.

Friday was our kid teaching day haha! This is funny because we are currently working with young single adults age 18-30 so to teach a 9-year-old and then a 15-year-old and three of his younger brothers also was odd. But it all was fun!

Saturday all the way through to yesterday we had exchanges with the Travelling Sisters - Sister Spinney and Sister Giles! I was with Sister Spinney Saturday and Monday
Exchange with Sister Spinney
 and Sister Giles Sunday.
Exchange with Sister Giles
Some highlights from the three days were:

*LRT contacting, we were told by some elders that we should be a little "BOLDER" lol ?

Be BOLDER!
*I led the little choir of people that sang on Sunday
*our friend Thomas came to church! He is blind, but loved every part of church, and wants to come again! We will be meeting this week also.

*Teaching Marlene–she has so many questions! We are going back Wednesday and Friday this week. =)

I know that as I work hard and work like a bee, I can bless the lives of those around me! I know that the Lord blesses me by my diligence and as I invite others to come unto Jesus Christ!

Lots of love!

King of Kings

Bonjour!

Again lots of options for the title as there were so many things that happened!!!!
Spiky Carl came out of his chrysalis
First, last Tuesday Sister Mitchell and I were privileged to go to Jasper National Park!

It was a full day trip, which we really enjoyed the beauties of nature!

Dinner with Glenn!! Our newest member!! He is so sweet!!
Potluck
Leah is a scary driver at times... haha Half of Glenn's meal spilled in the car (okay not really)
I got I nasty scratch on my nose from our trip... Sister Mitchell likes to tell people that I got in a fight with a baby bear hahaha

Wednesday was also a full day! We had Zone Conference from 9-2:30

then from 3-7 we had a 5K run/walk and BBQ in celebration of our Mission's 20th anniversary!!

President and Sister Pattison
Our District decided to show our unity by all wearing blue to Zone Conference!

I also invested in some blue shirts and wrote our district names on the back–get it? We are the Kingsway Missionaries!!

?????? HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??????
I love the opportunity I have to serve in this great country where we experience the comfort and freedom that other places around the world do not have. I loved singing all 4 verses of our beautiful National Anthem.

I particularly like the first verse en Français. It does not translate to the same direct thing as the English verse. This is what it says:

"Thy brow is girded with glorious jewels! Because thine arm knoweth how to carry the sword, it knoweth how to carry the cross! Thy story is an epic of the most brilliant exploits. And thy valour, tempered with faith, will protect our homes and our rights, protect our homes and our rights." [some editing by Grandpa]

I love how in our National Anthem it has an entire verse on the Saviour's love for us! We enjoy the true north strong and free BECAUSE Jesus Christ is the at the centre of it! He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! He is the one I serve for He is the one that has called me to this service. I pray you will thank Him for the blessing to live in this beautiful, free country.

Lots of love!
